The Art and Science of Optimal Health
How many times have you detailed your health challenges only to have a practitioner zero in on a single symptom and not look at your whole picture, the full system of your body?
Judy Simonsen-Cazier is trained as an acupuncturist, Chinese herbalist, and a neuro-focused physical therapist. During a long career in the Providence Health System, Judy became interested in more holistic approaches to treating patients. Because she is licensed in both acupuncture and physical therapy, she is uniquely able to integrate concepts from both systems, a union of East and West, and treat the full body system. Each of her treatments is tailored to the individual, and seeks to restore the body’s natural balance, deliver symptomatic relief and, more importantly, restore optimal health.
Acupuncture is an art form that begins by assessing the client using what is called the Four Inspections: To ask, to see, to hear, and to feel. Oriental medicine covers a wide range of scientific knowledge and techniques in addition to acupuncture. It includes Chinese herbal medicine, nutritional therapies, movement therapies such as Qi Gong and Tai Chi, tui na massage, and techniques such as cupping, gua sha, and moxibustion.
Judy’s interest in women’s health and Chinese herbal medicine has guided her continuing education. She participated in the herbal mentorship through the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine, as well as taking extensive coursework focused on women’s health. In addition to these specialties, she enjoys working with clients toward healing musculoskeletal injuries, digestive and respiratory issues, and helping with emotional balancing.
With the addition of physical therapy, Judy is often able to get results and restore movement and mobility to clients who have been “stuck” for years.
